FIBA, the International Basketball Association, is returning with a new look and model for their esports tournament in 2023, called eFIBA. This replaces the successful Esports Open and is now the official destination for international, competitive NBA2K action.
FIBA has partnered with ESL Faceit Group (EFG) to launch and run the new eFIBA season 1. The partnership follows a long-term cooperation agreement between the two organizations to support FIBA’s esports activities.
eFIBA season 1 will include 30 nations from across the globe, divided into six conferences. These nations, from Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, will compete for the title of Conference Champion throughout the inaugural season. Africa will be well represented, with nations such as Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Madagascar, Morocco, and Tunisia participating. The African qualifiers kick off on January 21st with the regional finals on January 24th.
This tournament will be all about national pride as the best players from each of the 30 participating nations will compete to gain glory for their country.
