The Saudi Esports Federation successfully hosted the third edition of the Arab Esports League in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on August 20-21, 2024. This year’s event saw a return to the original Arab Esports League format after last year’s Afro-Arab Esports League, which included more countries from Sub-Saharan Africa.

Representing Africa in the competition were top esports talents from Somalia, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Djibouti, and Egypt. The event featured two popular game titles, Tekken 7 and eFootball, with both male and female categories. A prize pool of 100,000 Saudi Riyals was up for grabs, fueling intense competition among the participants.

Morocco’s Tekken Victory

Morocco emerged victorious in the Tekken 7 men’s category, showcasing their gaming prowess and securing a prominent win for Africa in this highly competitive event. The Moroccan player’s skill and strategy set them apart from their competitors, marking a significant achievement for the nation in the esports scene.

Growing Legacy of the Arab Esports League

The Arab Esports League, which began in 2022, has quickly become a key event in the region’s esports calendar. The 2023 edition expanded to include more African nations under the Afro-Arab Esports League, reflecting the growing influence of esports across the Arab world and beyond. This year’s return to the original format allowed for a more focused competition among Arab nations, highlighting the regional talent pool.

As the Arab Esports League continues to grow, it remains a critical platform for emerging esports athletes in the Arab world, offering them opportunities to showcase their talents on an international stage. With Morocco’s win in the Tekken 7 category, the African presence in this event continues to be strong, promising even greater competition in future editions.
